Jaden Springer’s NBA dream is now a reality. The 76ers selected Springer with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft . Family and friends at a draft party in his hometown of Charlotte erupted.

Charles Bassey says he’s told the story many times before, but it’s a good story. Bassey, the No. 53 overall selection in the 2021 NBA Draft by the 76ers, was selling chicken and playing soccer in his home country of Nigeria when his basketball journey began.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Jaden Springer (No. 28) from the University of Tennessee, Filip Petrušev of Serbia (No. 50) and Charles Bassey (No. 53) from Western Kentucky University tonight in the 2021 NBA Draft.

On the heels of the 2021 NBA Draft, the 76ers introduced two of their new rookies on Saturday morning at their training complex in Camden. The team selected Jaden Springer, Filip Petrušev and Charles Bassey in Thursday’s draft.

With the 28th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Jaden Springer. Springer brings two-way talent, defensive intensity, and plenty of potential to the Sixers.

76ers Season Ticket Membership gives you the best access any ticket package has to offer to see former Sixers draft picks like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

While some of the 76ers' premier names were acquired through other means, like Julius Erving, whose contract was bought from the Nets after the ABA-NBA merger in advance of the 1976-77 season, or Moses Malone, who was acquired via sign-and-trade with the Houston Rockets after the 1982 NBA Finals, other Sixers legends were drafted by the team. Georgetown standout Allen Iverson, the first overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, would go on to win Rookie of the Year, and eventually the 2000-01 NBA MVP. Joel Embiid, out of Kansas, was selected third overall in 2014, named to the All-Rookie First Team in 2017, and has since received All-NBA Honors four times (and counting).

The 76ers currently own the 23rd pick in the 2022 NBA Draft; tune in at 8:00PM. Coverage of the first round of the draft will be televised live on both ESPN and ABC (ESPN will continue coverage for the second round). Fans can also stream the event on the NBA app for iPhone and Android.
